Workchoice Day - Best Day of the Year!
There are so many stories. For a small team, the Trust has had an impact on the lives of thousands of youngsters, but it’s also had a phenomenal impact on the business sector.
For all the talk about building closer links between education and business, the practical crossover opportunities are still limited – a gap the Trust was originally set up to fill. The aim when it was launched in 1994 by Roger Lampen was to bridge the gap between education and business – between a Year 12 student making that big decision about what to do when they leave school, often in something of a knowledge vacuum, and the real world of work. It introduces youngsters to what people actually do inside the doors of business.
And the benefits have always gone both ways.
The companies who get it really do get it – they understand walls don’t confine what they do, that they really are connected into and drawing from the communities in which they operate.
We came across a person recently – she was the eldest in her family and she went on Workchoice Day nine years ago. She decided then that she wanted to go to university. Her Mum and Dad said no. She didn’t. She has never forgotten.
It helps shape thinking and helps kids to cross some career options off the list too.
It’s real, it’s in your face and we love to see its impact.
And yes, as a Trustee of the Workchoice Trust and a leading partner sponsor - we have been involved for 16 years and still think this is the best day of the year!

GENEVA HEALTH
Geneva Health has been a supporter and advocate of The Workchoice Trust for a number of years. It is wonderful to see the Workchoice/Geneva Health partnership working so successfully to ensure as many students as possible are exposed to the opportunities the health industry offers now and in the future. Given the desperate need to attract young people into the health industry, it is quite an achievement to see health employers making such a commitment to our future workforce. The Workchoice Trust are the people who provide the vehicle for this to happen and Geneva Health are extremely proud to be able to support such a tremendous initiative, which will make such a huge difference to our community as a whole.
